(via)

It is that time of the year again when everyone becomes a golf fan for at least a few days. Who’s on the lead? who cares, most people want to know who’s turn is it to go get the beer. That is how things work while at the FBR Open (profile) which has become the greatest party on grass and the largest tournament when it comes to attendance with 500,000 – 600,000 people attending throughout the week.
After the first day, in case you do want to know who’s on the lead, Steve Lowery and Alex Cejka have a 1 shot lead after shooting a 65. We have tickets for Saturday and Sunday so I am looking forward for a little sun and good times at TPC Scottsdale. Hopefully we can get some decent seats on the famous 16th on Saturday and maybe hang out on the 18th on Sunday like we did last year
update: we ended up going on Saturday and Sunday, although Saturday’s trip was a zoo just by the number of people in attendance. Sunday we went back to just hang out, drink a couple of beverages and watch some golf. Sarah and Blair spent some time on 16th and later on came to meet on the green on 18th to watch the last groups come through. The photos that I took are online.

update: I didn’t get to watch most of the game since we started our soccer league and had a match right in the middle of the Broncos game, so I really cannot comment much on the result or the performance of the team.
The great thing about sports is that in cases such as this one, there is next year
to look forward as I expect Plummer to learn from this experience and become yet a better player. Denver will be a team to compete with next year.
FIFA announced the group seeds for the 2006 World Cup finals. Germany, Brazil, Italy, France, Argentina, Spain, Mexico and England will lead each of the eight groups. In addition, Mexico announced they will be concentrating in Gottingen which was also their camp during the Confederations Cup earlier this year.
Under the seedings system Brazil have 64 points followed by England (51), Spain (50), Germany (48), Mexico (47), France (46), Argentina (44) and Italy (44). The USA had 43 points and Holland 38.
The remainder of the groups will be put together this Friday (Dec 9) during the draw for the finals of the World Cup which will be made at the Messe in Leipzig, Germany. ESPN SoccerNet will be covering the ceremony live on the web in case you are interested in following the events. I’ll post the final fixtures once the draw comes to an end.
UPDATE: it goes without saying but the draw has set up some very good matches in the group play. Print out the calendar from your nearest online sports website and think about your picks. I will blog my thoughts about the fixtures over the weekend, I might even setup a special area for everyone to discuss all Germany 2006 activities for the next six months!
Mark October 20th on your calendars since the Arizona Cardinals defeated the St. Louis Rams 38-28 on the road!. The Cards had not won a road game for more than a year so this is a great way for Kurt Warner to get his first victory wearing the red and white.
