I thought we were going to pull off the upset and get away with two wins in Dallas but the Mavs recovered well in the last minutes of the 4th quarter. Unlike the first game, the Mavs pulled together and shut the door on the Suns when they needed it to.
The majority of the game, they went back and forth, each opening up a lead just to let the other team get back into the game. I thought the Mavs played a little better but without any sense of urgency, as if it was just another regular season game. I liked our chances to pull of the victory, given the score was so close leading into the last few minutes of the game, when they usually out play their oponents.
Unlike game one, the Mavs took control of the game and capitalized on their possessions. To make things worse, the Suns could not score from behind the line in their attempt to close the gap. The series comes to Phoenix on Sunday.
The Suns are taking on the Dallas Mavs again this year after defeating the LA Clippers on tonight’s 7th game. I expect the series to be much like last year going to six or seven games. Incredible what a little rest and TLC can do for a team, as Nash looked like the MVP once again!
Dallas, Cuban, Dirk get ready because here we come. BELIEVE!
A three-pointer with only seconds left in the game was the miracle the Suns needed to force a game seven.
update: So long Kobe!!! As it turns out the Lakers were done after game six, they never showed up to play in Phoenix. The Suns are the 8th team to come from three games down to win a series. Now we take on the other LA team, when the Clippers come to town for a Monday night game.
Both Barbosa and Bell had great games, the Suns actually looked like they did earlier in the season, confident and able to score behind the three point line. They were not going to be denied, at least not last night.
For my fellow english-speaking and futbol fans, this entry is about the surprising win that Guadalajara accomplished while visiting the Brazilian team Sao Paulo last night. Surprising because Sao Paulo had been undefeated at home since 1987 in international games. Use the link above to read more about the game.
Stoudemire collected 20 points in his first game back this season. The Suns beat the Portland Trailblazers rather easily, which might not have been a great way to test Amare’s fitness. However, the playoffs are just around the corner and this is great news for the Suns to have him on the court regardless of the opponent’s record.
While we are talking about the NBA, the other night Sarah and I were watching Denver play San Antonio and I realized how much fun the Western Conference playoffs are going to be. Not to disrespect the East but when you have Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas, Denver, Sacramento, and LA all looking to make the playoffs how much fun is it to watch the big men on the East play first-to-60-wins
baskball? Again not to disrespect but if things go my way, the West will claim this year’s title ;o)
update: it had to happen, the moment I blogged about Amare’s return to the court and the Sun’s march toward the playoff, both take a dive for the worse. Stoudemire’s return has been put on hold for the time being since his knees and fitness were bothering him after that first game. All tests have return positive but it appears he might be out of the playoffs.
