After barely making the playoffs and losing in penalty kicks last season, our sunday soccer team has had quite a turn around for this season. We re-structured our team back to our core of players — we had merged with another team for last season, which never really worked as planned — and picked up a some very good players to complete our roster for this season. The changes paid off since we finished the regular season leading the group and with the top seed for the playoffs.
Sunday morning, we played the first round of playoffs (or quarterfinals) and won our game 6-2. The game was much closer than you would believe from the score alone but United Serbs would not go away until the score was really out of their reach. We play the semifinal against a team that we have played against for a long time and we have a lot of history between us and you can count on a very close game. I believe the league’s champion will be the winner of this game. Hopefully I’ll have good news next week and we get to play one more game!
Since the days before the wedding, this site proudly took its place on the back burner mostly because of the current events at the time. We also had a different website to take care of and it also needed some TLC and attention. The posts have not been very prolific (yes, I know I owe a few summaries from the wedding) but I should let you know that things are still moving along just behind the scenes.
Flickr received the bulk of attention over the last couple of weeks with the photos from our wedding and honeymoon. My dad also posted his photos on his Flickr account and I am waiting for my cousin and a couple of friends to do the same. We are trying to find out how other people might share their photos with us, if you have photos from the wedding you would like to share, please let me know.
I have also been posting bookmarks into my del.icio.us and ma.gnolia.com accounts (I have not decided on one over the other) which gives you a little insight into what I am working on over the day or what I might come across that I find worth bookmarking. I used to post these bookmarks into this site but it was a process that would not scale very well. Since I moved my bookmarks to these sites I am bookmarking more items but I need to find a way to bring them back into this site so I can have more control over how I interact with this information.
I think that I have finally found an image in my head of what I want octavioheredia.com to look like in the near future. Don’t expect much from a visual point of view (never been my strong point anyways) but a simplified approach to content and information. A place for the information that I need or would like to have and somewhere I can share with friends and family.
I am so happy November 7th is here and even happier that it will be over in just a matter of hours. I celebrate this country’s freedom to vote and exercise our right to democracy but I also despise the amount of tv ads and phone calls that we have been subjected to over the last few days.
The country will be a different political landscape tomorrow morning but you have to agree that political-ad-free tv is a good thing for the people of this country. Let’s enjoy the silence for the next few months.
