Marathon photos are online

I finally took the disposable cameras to get developed, got them scanned and now you can view them online.

I wanted to take a camera with me hoping to take some photos along the race. I came out with a pretty creative solution the night before but I have realized that running, even at a relative slow pace, and photography do not mix well. So when you see a camera with a belt clip attached to it using duct tape, now you know the story behind it.

Switch XP to ClearType

If you have Windows XP and spend a lot of time infront of the computer, you should enable ClearType to give your eyes a break. It does take some getting use to it but your eyes will appreciate the change after a few days hours. Check out the image I uploaded for a visual view of the checkbox you are looking for.

  • Go Control Panel>Display>Appearance>Effects
  • Check Use the following method to smooth the edges of fonts.
  • Select ClearType
  • Click the ok buttons to close down the display property windows
  • You are done!

ClearType is a software technology developed by Microsoft that improves the readability of text on existing LCDs (Liquid Crystal Displays), such as laptop screens, Pocket PC screens and flat panel monitors. With ClearType font technology, the words on your computer screen look almost as sharp and clear as those printed on a piece of paper.

Let’s go Broncos

Denver Broncos

update: I didn’t get to watch most of the game since we started our soccer league and had a match right in the middle of the Broncos game, so I really cannot comment much on the result or the performance of the team.

The great thing about sports is that in cases such as this one, there is next year to look forward as I expect Plummer to learn from this experience and become yet a better player. Denver will be a team to compete with next year.

Researching The Great Depression

Last weekend while we watched Cinderella Man Sarah and I both asked to each other the same question: how did the US get to that point? I guess I’ve never really researched this point in time of the history of this country. I know the high level details such as the stock market crash but I wonder about the deeper issues of this period. If you are aware of a good reference book(s) that shed some light into the Great Depression I would greatly appreciate your suggestions.

Just in case you were wondering, we really liked the movie although it is not one of those that you watch when you want to relax and have an early evening, specially a couple of nights before you run a long race.
