I am not much of a video-gamer and other than the classic video games (FIFA, Madden, Doom, Unreal Tournament) I really don’t follow the industry. However, you have to check out Will Wright’s video during the 2005 Game Developer’s Conference where he shows ‘Spore’. It looks like a fantastic game.
I believe the game is still under development but I would probably buy it today if it was available.
Stoudemire collected 20 points in his first game back this season. The Suns beat the Portland Trailblazers rather easily, which might not have been a great way to test Amare’s fitness. However, the playoffs are just around the corner and this is great news for the Suns to have him on the court regardless of the opponent’s record.
While we are talking about the NBA, the other night Sarah and I were watching Denver play San Antonio and I realized how much fun the Western Conference playoffs are going to be. Not to disrespect the East but when you have Phoenix, San Antonio, Dallas, Denver, Sacramento, and LA all looking to make the playoffs how much fun is it to watch the big men on the East play first-to-60-wins
baskball? Again not to disrespect but if things go my way, the West will claim this year’s title ;o)
update: it had to happen, the moment I blogged about Amare’s return to the court and the Sun’s march toward the playoff, both take a dive for the worse. Stoudemire’s return has been put on hold for the time being since his knees and fitness were bothering him after that first game. All tests have return positive but it appears he might be out of the playoffs.
This morning, while listening to NPR’s Morning Edition, I caught the end of a piece which discussed some of the immigration issues currently being played out in Arizona. I wanted to listen to the entire piece so I went to their website and I found out NPR is actually doing a three-part series on Phoenix. These are the links to each part of the series where you can read about the topics and access the audio.
Need some new music for your music player? how about some DRM-free mp3 files? Mercedes Benz releases a series of songs every 10 weeks, featuring several international artists. Certinaly a good way to bring something new to your playlists.
Check out Mixed Tape 11, listen to the tracks online or download the whole thing to your computer. I’ll keep my eye on future versions and let you know when they are available in case that you are interested in these collections.
When the folks from the NY Times take note of the current drought in Arizona you know it is a serious issue. The good news is that after 143 days without any rain, we finally broke the streak and the bucket
is not longer dry.
The bad thing about this weekend’s rainy forecast is that Janessa is in town for her spring break. Her plans to layout by the pool and soak up the sun are now gone and instead she will have to put on the layers when going outside. This reminds me of the first visits we had when we moved to Arizona. We always spoke about the great weather with friends and family, sadly every time we had someone come visit us, the weather would be cold, windy and wet. Exactly like this weekend!
update: it certainly was a wet saturday and a cold weekend in general. The snow level dropped off to about 4000 feet, which means the areas just outside the city were covered in snow for the majority of the weekend. Monday morning, the higher peaks around the valley are still capped with snow. I got the following photo from a gallery on the local newspaper.
