Stepping back to 10 miles

Today, the group took a small break in our training after building up for these last few weeks and ran a 10 mile loop. It makes quite a difference in the mental aspect knowing that we have ran this distance three times already. We ran a 1:19:34 (7:57 mile average) with our last mile taking 7:30 – not too shabby!

In my entry about last week I mentioned the fact that I was running injury free up to this point. During our tuesday run, Glenn and I were also discussing our injuries and I told him I felt surprisingly good. I think I might have spoken too soon. After that run, I felt some tightness right above my left ankle but I didn’t think much of it. I experienced some soreness on Wednesday morning and that evening during our indoor game I could not stretch that part of my leg. Finally, during the thursday run I had some pain in the area during my last mile or so, to the point where it was affecting my form. A little scary.

I was a little worried about this morning’s run and I was hoping to talk to the physical therapist which usually attends on saturday. I am not sure if it was running with the group or what but my leg felt much better than thursday evening, a little sore during the day but not with the pain that I felt then. I am going to give it a couple more days but I don’t think it is anything serious.
