Let’s hope the best of my pc

Today my home pc decided to take a little break and will not start at all. I really did not feel like messing with it since I have my PB which is what I use most of the time. However, I am a bit concerned because I really do not want to invest any money on that machine and I need to make sure I can rescue my hard drive data. Especially since I have all of my iTunes collection in that machine.

I suspect it is the power supply since it will not make a single noise after pressing the on button. I wish you could just "jump" a pc like you can with your car. Instead, I will grab a spare power supply from the office and see if that is the culprit. I hope that is the case since it is an easy fix and it will preserve my data. Once it is up and running a complete backup will be the first thing to get done.

update: I tried to give my pc another chance tonight when I got home and for some odd reason it worked like a charm. At least I know that it happens to other people as well. I backed up the files that I needed in case I had to reformat someday but I am sure these are just signs that I will need a new PSU in the near future. (how about Sunday?)

A quick review of the last few days

One of the things that I would like to do this year is pay more attention to this site, even though I still need to find an "identity" for it. Is it a personal site? is it a technical? should it be one or the other? While I figure all of that out you will continue to see a combination of entries in this space. Now, what has been going on these past few days? This silence is not exactly how I wanted to start the year but things happen.

Flood alerts, golf size hail and even Tornado warning? no I am not talking about a day in the Texas Panhandle but it was just the kind of day we recently had. Not to compare this with other real catastrophes, but it has really taken us by surprise. Some parts of Sedona had to be evacuated a couple of weeks ago due to a rain storm and with more rain on the forecast for this weekend, fears of more evacuations are on the rise. Here in the valley the rain has been creating some chaos with road closures and even bridges collapsing. Certainly not your usual Arizona weather.

On another front, we finally have downloaded the images from Christmas and New Years but as usual I need to process them before I can upload them to the site. I also need to review the New Year’s images since I know there a couple that should not be made public in order to protect the innocence of those involved.

So this is my message that will kick off the year and where I make the observation that I will try to put more attention to my site and hopefully you will find a reason to come back to it. I know the semi-daily photo gallery could use some help too :o)
