7Jul05 Weekend trip to Texas
Sarah and I are making a lighting-quick trip driving to Amarillo over the weekend. We are leaving tomorrow around noon and coming back Sunday after breakfast. A few of you know why we are going back, those who don’t will have to wait a couple of days to find out and it is not what you are probably thinking!
A friend of mine loaned us some audio books to help kill the time (The Da Vinci Code & The King of Torts) and I will also have my camera with me so we’ll document the road trip. Last time we made this drive was almost 2.5 years ago on a U-Haul truck that would not go faster than 55 mph and it would overheat during long inclines. I think this will a much better experience.

I remember this trip like it was yesterday to be honest with you. And you are not kidding with the top speed of 55 mph hour and the stupid thing overheating. I remember us going up the hills in flagstaff and having semi’s screaming past us like we were standing still. Thinking we will catch up on the down slope by getting some speed only for the stupid governer to take over as we hit 65 mph and keep us there and not be able to faster…..so much for making up time! Then we had overheating problems to add to the delay of things. But I believe the funniest experience ever was getting gas at this one gas station, right Okie? Sounds simple enough I know, but throw in a U-Haul truck full of furniture from two apartments, and a trailor with a car on it, along with tight angles and small spaces, it doesn’t make it very easy in the end. Not to mention the car salesman watching our every move, backwards and forwards, to make sure we don’t hit his precious car made in 1940! A nice guy would have moved the stupid car to give us more room, but instead this idiot just watched us to make sure we don’t hit it. Wonder if there is a chance he is reading this??????
