Introducing Windows Vista

Microsoft announced today the official name for its new version of the Windows operating system. Windows Vista, previously known by the code name Longhorn, has been marketed to be Microsoft solution to the large amount of data that we are constantly producing and managing as users these days. I am not very informed on the details of this version, mostly because I lost interest when the release date kept getting pushed further into the future. The first beta release of Vista will be available by August 3rd according to the Microsoft site so blogs should be getting the word out shortly thereafter.

This has been the longest time span between new versions of the Windows operating system. The funny thing is that I still know people that prefer to run Windows 2000 on their machines. How will Microsoft tackle this problem? Can they do it without throwing their corporate weight onto the developers they are so keen to attract? I will start looking into Vista once the beta reviews start appearing on the web.
