Weekend recap.

It was cold and rainy weekend at the sothwestern desert. Friday night we went downtown Phoenix to watch the Suns host the San Antonio Spurs. Sarah had been wanting to go watch a basketball game since we moved a year ago and what a better team for her to watch than the Spurs. I guess they brought with them a little bit of “home” for both of us.

After a long week.

I am planning on making more frequent updates here since I am finding out more people actually read this than what I had anticipated. It had been a while since I posted anything here for 2 reasons. One - school started this week at the Universtiy where I work and that means long hours at the office. I had to be there early and stay late in order to get everything done. The good news it that rush appears to be over and now we are in “maintenance” mode.

The second reason was a technical situation and somewhat out of my control. Last weekend I had lost my internet connection due to the fact that the company was having some issues with our building. I managed to keep Sarah’s connection alive, however, I was out of luck. I even threaten to throw everything away (not really, just a bit of touch love I guess) and suddenly yesterday everything came into place and I was back up and running.

During the whole week, I was tired of being in front of a computer and phone all day dealing with student’s issues and truth be told, I did not want to try to repair my own problems. This weekend the computer gods smiled upon us and here we are, making a promise to write more often and with more value.

Getting ready to run — a lot!

That is correct. We have a soccer tournament this weekend and as far as I know we have 6 games in 2 days and most likely a 7th game on monday. As much as I hate to think how much we’ll have to run and how tired I am going to be, we better play and win the 7th game - the tournament final.

It almost gives it that “World Series” or “NBA Finals” type feeling doesn’t it? Yeah, I just knew you were going to agree with me. So, over the weekend I know that you will be thinking of a little soccer team that could :o)

Update: ok, so we ended up playing all 6 games but we managed to lose the final game in a matter of 10 minutes. We played 2 games on Saturday and 3 more on Sunday. The final game was scheduled for Monday morning and even though our minds were telling our legs to move, they certainly had a hard time doing it. It was a good and fun experience, even though we had to run our butts off.

What a day!

You ever had a day when it feels like the whole world just ran by you like a train does? yeah, me neither ;o) Today was a bit crazy, not in a bad way, just one of those days. A phone call here and little bug there and it sort of accumulates after a few hours.

On my way from the office to my car, all I could think about was getting home, open a beer and sit in the back patio just for the heck of it. More or less to decompress from what it seems to be the longest week ever. Of course, I knew that before getting anywhere close to the refrigerator, I was going to have to deal with rush-hour traffic. Given the fact that I stayed late I was quite optimistic about this evenings commute and it funny how God works.

For a quick laugh.

From a friend of mine:

Three kids are in school…a Mexican, a White, and a Black…
The teacher tells them to make a sentence with liver and cheese.

White kid says:
“My mom made me a liver and cheese sandwich and it was sooo good…”

Black kid says:
“My daddy told my momma to go get the Government cheese and she didn’t, so my daddy punched her in the liver…”

Mexican kid says:
“Some kids were trying to look under my sister’s dress so I told the vatos ‘Hey!! Liver alone. Cheese my Sister!!!’ ”
