I recently attended a Macromedia webminar which was delivered through their Breeze presentation software. The presentation required that you register with the site and either enter your exisiting account information (email and password) or create a new account.

Since their "forgot your password" functionality was not working, I decided to create a new account that I can use for future presentations. I don’t have a problem with sharing my work email with reputable companies and I find Macromedia to be of such standard. I was rather surprised when I entered my password and I saw it being presented as "clear text". Specially when they effectively used a type="password" for the login section.

What I find specially surprising is that this "clear text password" appears to be quite common within Macromedia’s applications. Ben Forta recently bloged about his most recent experience. Maybe there is something we are missing here and Macromedia is not telling us? I doubt it, sounds more like a poor implementation within their applications.
