It may be dry but it is still freaking hot.

Every time I tell someone that I live in Arizona you can go "all-in" that a discussion about the heat is going to take place. It happen quite a few times during our trip to Amarillo, TX – where the temperature was 80 degrees of perfection.

I always try to defend the fact that it really is not that hot here in the Valley of the Sun, but these last 2 days make it quite difficult to prove my point. It has been about 110° F (43° Celsius) these last couple of days and "dry" or not, it is freaking hot. This is the first week that we have had temperatures that high and you can tell that it is taking some time for people to get used to it. Even locals make comments about how hot it is but these conversations will only last a few more days. After that, it can get to 150° and people will defend the glory of the city with the typical "but it’s a dry heat". A phrase so popular that only lags behind the traditional Texan "Howdy ya’ll".

So this is my whine comment for this year’s hot season here in Arizona. My opportunity to tell you how I just about passed out while walking 2 blocks to get a bite to eat, to tell you how happy I am for the people that gave us air conditioning and those mist systems that every Phoenix restaurant must have during the summer. So, bring the heat on that we’ll be ready once this week goes by.
