We survived the move.

That’s right. We finished cleaning up the old place last night and are now officially moved into our new condo. Even though we hired help, there was a lot left to get done and move from one place to the other. However, we are done with the moving phase and are now working on the organization phase!

Our list of needs & wants is also growing, so I know we’ll have to do some prioritization to make sure we get our "needs" first. We are both pretty excited about what is to come. Sarah and I would like to thank you all for your messages and best wishes and we cordially invite you to come visit us anytime. Reservations are not needed, a call from the airport will do :o)

Meet “The Bloggist”

Web logs are becoming more and more popular; today it appears this method of communication has a place in personal sites as well as communication strategies for some of the top companies in the world. One can easily find a person or community that will write about a topic of interest, however, there seems to be a shortage in the number of resources available to represent this method of communication well.

Allow me to introduce to you “The Bloggist”. A project from Jeremy C. Wright of Ensight. I am a frequent reader of his business & technology blog and recently found a reference to this project. The GMail invite was also a factor on this post, however, I am glad that I found this project and look forward to seeing it grow.

From the Bloggist FAQ:

The Bloggist is a pre-project idea to bounce around the idea of a blogging magazine. With 4 millions bloggers (and 20,000 new blogs starting every day) and thousands of companies blogging, there needs to be a resource of guidance, inspiration, information and cultural dissemination. There needs to something there which not only gives bloggers a great sense of identity, but also a greater media presence. In short, bloggers need a representative magazine.

Felicidades Papá!

Al mejor papá del mundo, muchas gracias por tu sabiduria, tu comprehension y todos tus sacrificios. Tambien gracias por el corte de pelo en esta foto :o)

Blog IOU’s for the weekend.

I have been away from my site for a few days although I want to put a stop to it this trend. I usually have a topic that I want to include here but they manage to get away. These last couple of days, I have had some topics that I would like to write about so I am making a list here that I can revisit over the weekend. However, I have final exams this week so I might have to address one at a time.

  • The Ben Forta presentation at the Phoenix CFUG (AZ CFUG)
  • A short discussion about managing a project
  • Going to dinner and a movie tonight, so maybe I’ll dive into a review
  • What in the world happen to MTV’s programming
  • Searching my bookmark collection
Update

I had a final exam to take on Saturday and we have been packing all day today so it may take me a couple of days to get to the above topics. I am sorry.

Teaching IE to “stay”.

Although I user IE less and less, there are certain ocassions where I have to click the little blue “e”. One thing that I don’t like about this browser, is the ability for sites to resize and move the window, taking away the control from me – the user. To correct the situation, I took a couple of "favelets" and entered some javascript as the value for my homepage. The js goes like this:

javascript:resizeTo(800,600); moveTo(screen.availWidth*.19, screen.availHeight * .21);document.location.href=’about:blank’;

Although I guess it can also be something like this, although I have yet to try it.

javascript:resizeTo(800,600); moveTo(Math.round((screen.availWidth-window.outerWidth)/2), Math.round((screen.availHeight-window.outerHeight)/2))

What is this doing? By using this js string as the home page, you are telling IE to resize the window to be 800 x 600 pixels and move it to the center of the screen. It will be executed every time you open a new browser window or when you click on the "home" icon. Feel free to adjust the values to whatever would fit your situation best.
