11Mar04 My considerate ISP
It was only a few months ago that we I was able to connect to the Internet from my apartment and we’ve had nothing but great service from this company. They are always available (mostly via email) and in case of emergency we have access to their mobile numbers.
They are a very small ISP serving 2 apartment communities, ours and a sister-complex down the street. Their relative-small size allows them to provide great customer service and so far we have not had any technical problems with our service.
To add one compliment from me, today I received an email from them. They are recommending their customers who download music files with P2P programs, to turn off file sharing — making their libraries available to others — instead of flat out prohibiting the use of such programs.
I’ve heard the argument that it is not ilegal to download a music file, but it is ilegal to make it available for others to download it. Maybe this is the also the way our ISP believes the law is being interpreted? I don’t know but I thought it was nice that our provider took the time to share that information with their customers at a time where copyright litigation is so common.
