Just a little tip for all of you, make sure you always remember your password. Specially when you need it to manage just about evertything on your linux box.
As Murphy’s law would tell you, I found a work-around to the above problem the day after I reinstalled everything.

I spent this weekend mostly trying to not think about Monday’s start of “classes” and I would say that I did a pretty good job of it. Saturday morning, Sarah and I went out to become one with nature and tackled a 3.1 mile hike around McDowell mountains’s North Trail. The day was perfect for being outdoors so we had coffee and bagels outside and then headed up to our hiking adventure. I took several photos of our outing, which I have to admit had a couple of stories to tell but I will save those for a better occassion. Maybe once I post the photos online I will talk about my encounter with a “teddy bear cholla.”

I recently received this email from a member in a mailing list that I am subscribed for.
I have a major presentation to be made to a major company and I’m looking for a “Killer” Power point presentation. I offer a service and I’m looking for a win-win type of proposal. Does anyone have a Power Point Presentation they can share? Thank you.
What I find amusing & hard to believe is that this individual is seeking for a “free” and easy way out when it comes to the presentation of his service. When starting out a new business, I can completely understand creating these win-win relationships with other people, but what I get from this email is that he just wants the easy way out. I might be reading too much into this but needless to say, it did make me smile when it came across my mailbox.
I just wanted to create a short list of some of the things I would like to work on this blog as the time comes available. I am doing this so that I don’t keep putting it off.
Fix IE margin issue (accomodate photo galleries)
Compress content before it is sent to the browser
- Font style switcher
Fix blog text styles (headers, blockquotes, and lists)
- Reorganize blog categories
- Add daily bookmarks to front page
- Look into improving current bookmarks
- Any other suggestions?
After asking a couple of people about getting started with Java web applications I was recommended the O’reilly book. I have been working for the last few years using Perl, PHP, and Cold Fusion
to desing and immplement web applications. I have also done some Java programming but mostly client-server.
I have been wanting to explore using Java to develop web applications, however, it will take some reading and learning. I already have a “project” in mind to help with the learning process. I also bought a couple of technical books recently to help with the development process at work. It may take a few changes to the way we code at the office but in the long run, I believe that it will pay off for all of us.
