Testing live comment preview.

As I mentioned before, I’ve started changing some things with this blog. One of the things I really disliked about my site was the look and feel of the comments section. I know they are not used very often but I still wanted to changed them a bit.

I am testing a “live comment preview” feature that I saw first implemented on John Hicks’ blog. Let me know if you have any problems with it or if you don’t find it one bit useful. I am thinking on using this on a project I am currently working on so I thought I would give it a shot here.

I am also thinking of giving the site a bit of a face lift but we’ll see how much spare time I have available in the next weeks. I don’t claim to be a designer of any sort so I always “fear” this part of the whole development process. I have a couple of things I want to implement, maybe that will keep me busy enough to forget about redesigning.

Why Internet Explorer?

A few months ago I was trying to walk a friend through installing the Mozilla browser. He wanted an alternative to IE mostly to fight all of those annoying pop-up windows (wihtout installing a 3rd party tool, like the Google toolbar.) He did not like it and decided to go back to IE within hours of installing Mozilla.

My parents and sister use Internet Explorer for no other reason than the fact that “it is there”. Although I have not tried to get them to use a different browser, I would say they are typical web users. They don’t want to spend their time researching which browser best supports CSS or anything of the sort. They want to sit down infront of the computer and get to the sites they like to enjoy visiting.

So, I have a question to ask all Internet Explorer users, why?

Mydoom variant F

Tonight I received quite a number of emails that were in infected with the Mydoom variant F. We also got a warning about it at my place of work so I am sure this virus will be around for a few more weeks.

Please, delete any messages that:
a) come from someone that you do not recognize
b) include an unexpected attachment even if it is from someone you know.

Handy little tool.

For christmas I got a small tripod from Sarah and it has worked like a charm, however there are certain ocasions where it would be hard to find a surface to place the tripod. Today, I found the ClamperPod while surfing looking for something else.

Now you can carry a “tripod” with you all the time without lugging cumbersome gear around. Made of heavy-duty die cast aluminum alloy, the ClamperPod mini tripod is strong enough to hold even the heaviest cameras, but weighs only 2 ounces.

Not much bigger than a business card, it fits into pocket, purse, camera bag, backpack or briefcase with room to spare. Attaches to any still or video camera with a standard 1/4×20 tripod socket.

And if you’re a professional photographer, or just have lots of gear… slave flash, strobe, diffuser and reflector, or any other accessory that has a tripod socket, a few of these are a lot easier to handle than a bunch of tripods and light stands
