Bad case of the holidays.

It is official, I have a bad case of the “Holidays”. While the entire country appears to be suffering from the flu, the holiday virus has come to Arizona. I believe it was during my parent’s visit that I came under the bug, it must have been all of that shopping they wanted to do (or so my mom said).

In any case, I started doing my shopping way way early this year – to the point that I am almost done with all of my gifts. This year we’ll be getting together at my sister’s home in Oregon and that brings certain difficulties when it comes to the mobilization of the fam’s presents. Solution? enter the Internet!!!! I have done some shopping online for 2 main reasons.

UNO.- It keeps me from having to take breakables or other bulky gifts with me through the whole mess that airports can be during a holiday season. I am having everything shipping to my sister’s house directly from the retailer.

DOS.- Keeps my trips to the mall, short and to the point. When I have gone to the mall, I have a pretty good idea about what I am looking for and where to get it. I guess this is the guys’ shopping gene kicking in. The exception would be the trip I made with Sarah where once I was surrounded by the traffic and chaos, all desire to shop was gone.

So, the lesson to be taken from this post, is that even during the holiday season, the geek in me has to come out and play. People talk about the commercialization of the season and I can see that very clear, however, it does bring certain joy to see your nephew open up his new toy or try on that really cool new sweater that “Santa” o “el niƱito Dios” has brought him.
