I am back!!!

As I talked about it before here, I am back in school talking a java class. The first day was a bit challenging and for a minute I had a fear that I had gone over my head. Now, we are starting to look at code and getting into the programming and I don’t have any hesitation about the class anymore.

I think the most challenging aspect of the class right now, is my dicipline to keep up with the class. I am taking the class via TV, where I video tape the class during the day and I watch it on my own during the evening. I am trying to get into the habit of watching the class the same evening so I can ask questions the next day.

My first asignment is due next week and I am looking forward to get started working on it. For the most part, it will be nice to do some java programming which actually does something and you can actually watch it in action. That is something that I have come to dislike about school these days, or at least when I look back at some of the time I spent in the classroom. So much time was spent on theoretical subjects when “proejcts” would do a better job in driving the same point “home”.

Keep in mind I am speaking given my background, I can see how it would be a litte harder to execute a live project with other fields aside than computer science. I guess this is my form of disclaimer and some people might not agree but I guess that is why they are called “personal opinions”!!!!
