Lately, I have been playing with web services and I have written two interfaces that give you the weather (for cities that I have selected) and recipes (based on a search keyword).

Web services are becoming more than just a B2B tool (and fad) and they are reaching the everyday public and more companies are releasing public APIs (Google and Amazon are the most common right now). I am working on the other side of the coin, the writing of a web service to expose certain functionality to the public.
